2022 grants for small business

Updated: Aug 26, 2022

If you're a small business owner, then you know that funding is always a challenge. You may be wondering what types of grants are available to you, especially if you're trying to get off the ground. And if you're not actively looking for funding, take advantage today!

In this blog post, we'll give you an overview of a few grants for small businesses that we found. So, let's get started!

FedEx small business grant contest

Although this contest is past its deadline, it's a great one to keep an on for next year because they choose multiple winners and have two different prize amounts. The only drawback to this grant is that your business needs to have a FedEx account and has to have been using their services for at least 6 months prior to entering. So this one's especially important to enter if you're running an e-commerce business!

Who knows? You may be chosen, but you won't know unless you apply. Keep this one stored away in your brain for next year... or you could just sign up to receive emails for when they bring it back.

U.S Small Business Association (SBA)

This is probably the ultimate resource if you're a small business owner, as they offer many different grants and loans for small businesses throughout the country. Check out their website and see if any grants fit your business description and take advantage!

"SBA provides limited small business grants and grants to states and eligible community organizations to promote entrepreneurship."

The SBIR and STTR Programs (Powered by SBA)

According to their website, the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs are highly competitive programs that encourage domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research/Research and Development (R/R&D) with the potential for commercialization.

These programs are fantastic because they push for innovation through smaller businesses and encourage more women and disadvantaged persons to pursue innovation through business. So these are good for research-based and technological/scientific companies that are seeking to grow.

NASE Grant

If you're an entrepreneur or own a microbusiness, this one's perfect for you! The NASE (National Association for the Self-Employed) offers small grants for the self-employed to give them a little boost in funding their business. They support hundreds of thousands of entrepreneurs throughout the US by providing access to resources traditionally only accessible to larger corporations.

Their grants can be used for marketing, advertising, hiring employees, expanding facilities, and other specific business needs. The downside is that you have to be a (paying) member of the association in order to apply.

Biz2Credit

This isn't a business grant- it's a loaning company for small businesses that we happened to stumble upon. They are very credible, having provided around $7 billion in funding for small businesses nationwide. In the case that you're looking for a loan, check this site out!

There are several grants available to you, it's just a matter of looking. Grants can help fund your next venture, which could take off! You won't know until you try. Applying for a grant can be time-consuming, but the benefits of receiving funding can be invaluable. As a small business, we want to see our fellow business owners strive for a bigger future!

Thanks for reading, and let me know if you have taken advantage of grants in the past!
